André Sinet, born in 1867, painted Parisian street life, the fashionable nightlife and elegant Parisiennes, but also beach views. He also made a large number of drawings and sketches of famous contemporaries, including the film actress Alice Cocéa, the writer Anatole-France and the French music-hall singer and actress Yvette Guilbert (1865-1944), who was also painted several times by Henri de Toulouse Lautrec.
