biography of Arie Wassenburg

Arie Wassenburg is best known for his cityscapes of Delft. He preferred the many bridges and markets in the city, such as the Leeuwenbrug and Boterbrug, the Koemarkt and the flower market. His smooth impressionistic painted views of the boulevard of Scheveningen, the harbour of Hoorn and the landscape around Delft are also known. The painter lived and worked almost all his life in Delft, where he was a member of the painters' association 'De Kring'.
