The Belgian impressionist Aristide Goffinon preferred especailly the painting of landscapes and flowers. He was educated at the academy of Liège, among others with one of the first Belgian luminists Evariste Carpentier. From 1920 to 1928 he lived and worked in Paris, where he also painted cityscapes. His unerring sense of colour and light is clearly reflected in a number of his still lifes. Goffinon worked a lot with the palette knife.
