biography of Benjamin Wolff

Benjamin Wolff was trained as a doctor in Germany, but he decided to follow his passion and developed as an artist. After traveling throughout Europe, he settled permanently in Amsterdam in 1804. In addition to being a painter, Wolff also held the position of supervisor at the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam from 1814. Wolff is known for his paintings after works by great masters, such as Titian and Adriaen van Ostade. As a supervisor, of course, he had access to many works of art that he used as examples. The Rijkmuseum Amsterdam still has a number of works by Wolff in its collection.
