Bob Lokhorst was born in Amsterdam in 1900. After training at one of the private drawing schools of the capital, he continued his studies at the Academy of Art in Berlin. Once a painter by trade, he lived in France for years, with small interruptions. There he mainly devoted himself to painting dreamy, romantically tinted landscapes in a covered palette. On the other hand, he set up his figures and city impressions of Paris and Amsterdam in bright colors in a sought-after naive style, in which the characteristic of what is depicted clearly emerges.
