In the work of the painter and graphic artist Bob Tenge, the focus is on the human being: (self-)portraits and depictions of figures in oil paint and pastels make up the biggest share of his oeuvre. He also made book illustrations. From 1971 to 1986 he was a lecturer at the Rijksacademy of Fine Arts. He was a member of the artists' associations Arti et Amicitiae and De Onafhankelijken.
