Anna Marguérite Elisabeth Caroline 'Caro' van Limburg Stirum specialized in painting flower still lifes and portraits. She was born in Deventer in 1867 and took lessons at the Rijksacademie in Amsterdam in the early 1980s. After her marriage she moved to The Hague, where she continued to live and work until her death. Little is known about her life and oeuvre. She probably belonged to a small group of Dutch artists from a good family who painted mainly as a hobby, and whose work was mainly known among the small circle of family and friends.
