Charles Dankmeijer received his education at the academies in Antwerp and Amsterdam. After that he lived and worked in The Hague and for a longer period on the Veluwe in Renkum and Oosterbeek. He shaped the world around him in spontaneous, wild-impressionistic canvases with sparkling colours. Although he occasionally painted a still life or figure, the landscape was his most favorite subject. After 1912 he made several trips abroad.
