Painter of Dutch landscapes and city and village views in pen and watercolour, in a very recognizable style. His work is characterized by a sober realism. He paints unadorned what people have constructed such as bridges, dikes, mills and buildings, preferably in a wide, flat, empty landscape. Because of this interest in the constructed, contemporary, he feels closer to abstract painters than to landscape painters. Siewert has lived and worked in Rotterdam almost all his life, where he also received his education at the Academy.
