Cor ter Brugge was trained as a drawing teacher and taught as such at a school in Amsterdam. As a free artist he painted and sculpted. His painted oeuvre consists mainly of still lifes, often with books and / or studio attributes. He also made abstract works. Cor ter Brugge lived most of his life in Amsterdam and the last twenty years in Naarden.
