This painter, born in Nieuwkuijk in Brabant, moved to The Hague as a young adult (1882-1890), probably after his academy days there. Middelkoop painted impressionist landscapes, portraits, river views and some genre scenes. At a later age, Cornelis Middelkoop moved to the east of the country, where he lived in Doetinchem and nearby Terborg. Here he also worked as a decoration painter, including for an enamel factory.
