Elise Dom was born in Brussels in 1913 as the daughter of the Belgian artist Pol Dom. This painter stayed in the Netherlands during the Second World War. In 1927 he settled permanently with his family in The Hague. Elise was probably taught by her father and became a member of Pulchri Studio at the age of 19. In 1959 she married P. Kraan and afterwards also called herself Elise Kraan-Dom. Her oeuvre includes flower still lifes, figures, landscapes and cats.
