Ernest Dezentjé is one of the well-known Indonesian painters of the first half of the twentieth century. In a characteristic impressionist style and somewhat towards the blue palette, he painted the tropical nature and the most beautiful landscapes of Indonesia. Already around 1927 Dezentjé had established his name. He regularly exhibited in the building of the Bataviasche Kunstkring, of which he was a member, and at Kolff's bookshop in Batavia. Critics praised his work for capturing the light of the tropics.
