Little is known in our country about the Italian painter Eugenio Pizzolatto. He lived and worked mainly in Venice and painted finely detailed romantic landscapes. His subjects, and also their elaboration with a typical romantic light and attention to details, suggest that the painter became acquainted with the romantic forest landscapes of B.C. Koekkoek and his students during a study trip to Northern Europe.
