biography of Frederik Johannes 'Frits' Jansen

Painter from The Hague, trained at the Hague Academy and then in Paris and London. He specialized in painting genre scenes, portraits and landscapes. As a teacher, and from 1887 as deputy director of the Hague Academy, he had a great deal of influence on a young generation of painters in The Hague. Queen Wilhelmina was also one of his students.
