The work of Geert Meyer is somewhere between impressionism and expressionism. Sunny beaches, landscapes and especially equestrian motifs are his most popular subjects. Characteristic of his work are the blond colours and the figures painted in a few stripes. Meyer was born in Groningen, received his education at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht (1959-1964) and then returned to Groningen where he taught at the Minerva Academy from 1979 to 1981. (He was also part of the artist group 'Nu').
