Jurgen George Pletser lived and worked for a large part of his life in his native city of Rotterdam, but he also spent some time in Wassenaar and Zeeland. Pletser obtained his diploma at the Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten in Rotterdam, where he was supervised by A.H.R. Maasdijk and Jan de Jong. He drew and painted many still lifes, landscapes and some figure pieces. Pletser was a member of the artists' group R 33 (Rotterdammers 1933), which was described as 'progressive' at the time. This membership gave him the opportunity to make his work known to the general public through exhibitions and exhibitions.
