Rotterdam painter of landscapes, still lifes and interiors in an impressionistic style. Altmann preferred to look for his subjects in wetland areas, such as around the Reeuwijkse and Nieuwkoopse lakes, De Kaag and near Kortenhoef. Later he worked a lot in Oostvoorne, south of Rotterdam.
