Guus van Nifterik mainly painted landscapes in an impressionistic style, as well as some city and village views and portraits. He was born in Amsterdam and was educated at the academy (1903-1908). He then lived in South Limburg and along the Veluwezoom in Renkum, Rhenen and Amerongen, alternating with a stay in France (until 1924). For his paintings he was inspired by the rural environment of the places where he lived. Van Nifterik also worked as a sculptor.
