The Gooise artist Henk Bos taught himself how to paint. He depicted landscapes, floral arrangements, (self) portraits and still lifes in a realistic-impressionist style. This last topic in particular, fascinated him: these are modest scenes of simple, assembled objects such as a jug with a bowl of eggs, or a stack of books next to a vase of wild flowers. In the tradition of 17th-century Dutch painters he is a master in painting copper, tin and old pottery.
