The Nijmegen artist Henk Jaspers taught himself how to paint. He may have been taught by Anton Kloosterhuis (1888-1959), who lived and worked in Groesbeek and Nijmegen for a period of his life, and who trained several young painters. Jaspers made self-portraits, portraits and figure pieces, still lifes and flowers.
