Hennie van Overbeek (1943) mainly makes sculptures of women. Round-shaped women, as a torso or in special poses and sometimes with wings or other non-human features that give them something mythical. They seem to have run out of old folktales. No material is strange to Van Overbeek. The sculptor has proven to be excellent at expressing himself in bronze, brick, stone, lead, glass and gemstone. And no matter how you look at his images, there is always something moving and universal about them; they are pleasant residents on this earth and in the house.
