biography of 'Henri' Eduard Plaat Plaat

Henri Plaat was a versatile artist. At the Kunstnijverheidsschool he learned drawing and various graphic techniques. He also mastered other art forms, such as film and sound clips. In 1963 he started working with gouache, of which the work 'Amorgos' is an example. Plaat depicts the landscape of the Greek island in an artistic way. The overlapping colours sometimes also characterize the abstract work of the artist. Plate was inspired by his travels, from India to Iceland. He attaches no value to accurately depicting landscapes. He mainly wanted to portray his own associations with the atmosphere of exotic countries on paper. The landscapes of Plaat seem like mysterious places that have yet to be discovered.
