Herman Vreedenburgh is the youngest brother of Cornelis Vreedenburgh and was educated at the academy in Brussels. He then occupied himself with painting still lifes, later also polder landscapes and river views in the area of Noorden, Nieuwkoop, Reeuwijk, Haarlem and Heemstede. He showed himself to be a perfectionist, especially in his still lifes. He could work for months on a canvas and eventually destroy it if he didn't like the result.
