Jacob Jan Coenraad Spohler had lessons from his father and proved himself to be a good pupil by also specialising in summer and winter landscapes. He mainly painted figures enjoying the pleasures of winter ice. He depicted endless variations of snow-covered countryside alongside expanses of reflective ice with swaying skaters and koek-en-zopie food stalls. J.J.C. Spohler lived and worked in Amsterdam and regularly exhibited his paintings, among others, at the Exhibitions of Living Masters.
