biography of Jan Evert Morel I

Jan Evert Morel was born in Amsterdam and was a pupil of Jacob Linthorst, who taught him how to represent flowers and fruits. He continued his training with Dirk van der Aa in The Hague, where he mostly concentrated on painting floral still lifes, from which he made a living. Morel died at the age of thirty-eight, and a few months after his death, the Rijksmuseum acquired a painting by him. Today, the museum has several works by this talented painter, all depicting beautiful flowers.
