biography of János 'Jean' Viski

Due to his great love for horses and his knowledge of their characteristics, the Hungarian painter Janos Viski has become an important European horse painter. Close to home, but also during trips to the South American continent, he studied the behavior and movements of these noble animals, which he then incorporated into his paintings. Viski was born in Szokolya in Hungary in 1881, trained at the academy under Tividar Zempleny and had his first exhibition as early as 1913, at the age of 22. He also painted animals other than horses, as well as landscapes, in his characteristic free-impressionist style.
