The painter Jim Frater spent the summer months in Domburg from 1904, where he, like many others, was influenced by Jan Toorop. He was originally from Vlissingen, born as the son of an English clergyman. He spent his childhood in Belgium and was educated, among others, at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Brussels (1903-1905) and in Paris (1906). He mainly painted cityscapes, figures and landscapes.
