biography of Johannes Embrosius van de Wetering de Rooij

J.E. van de Wetering de Rooij was an impressionist with a romantic disposition. Influenced in particular by painters of the Hague School, his work was a constant quest to represent light at different times of day and in every type of weather. He picked out scenic spots to paint, with a clear preference for river and harbour views and old towns overlooking the IJsselmeer. Van de Wetering de Rooij travelled a great deal throughout the Netherlands and in Belgium and France, gaining inspiration along the way.
