Painter from Dordrecht, pupil of the landscape and livestock painter Jacob van Strij. He specialized in painting cityscapes in his hometown and in other cities such as Amsterdam and Haarlem. For a long time he was an employee of Johannes Christianus Schotel, who upholstered a number of his cityscapes with figures.
