biography of Joseph Edward Homerville Hague

The good life of English high society is the main theme in the work of the British painter J. Edward Homerville Hague. His oeuvre consists mainly of impressionistic park scenes with ladies in chic clothing and cosy country scenes. He also occasionally painted simple fishermen, or weavers at work. Little is known about the painter's life; we know that he worked between 1884 and 1917 and worked as a sculptor as well as a painter. The artist was a member of various artists' associations, such as the Royal Society of British Artists and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters.
