biography of Joseph Jungwirth

The Austrian impressionist Joseph Jungwirth was born in Vienna in 1869 and received his training at the academy there during the heyday of the Belle Epoque. He then made long study trips to Italy, Germany and Holland (1899-1900). The painter became known with his genre performances, but was also a celebrated portrait painter. From 1910 to 1934 he was a teacher at the Academy of Vienna, then he became a director there.
