biography of 'Juliette' Ziane Cambier

Juliëtte Cambier was a Belgian painter of flowers, figures and landscapes, a pupil of her husband Louis Cambier. She exhibited for the first time in 1914 in the Salon of La Libre Esthètique in Brussels. Following the advice of Octave Maus, she continued her studies in Paris. Between 1914 and 1918 the two Cambiers stayed in Cagnes in the South of France where, through contacts with Renoir and Matisse, they came to a very free impressionism that sometimes touched fauvism.
