biography of Julius Müller-Massdorf

The German painter Julius Müller-Massdorf studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy between 1878 and 1883. Around 1896 he made a study trip to Holland where he was very impressed by the work of Joseph Israëls. After returning to his native country, he specialized in painting busy city life and cafe and theater scenes. He also made peasant interiors with many figures in impressionistic style.
