The Hague artist Kees Keus was born in 1905. He was a painter, sculptor and worked with textiles. He taught himself artistry. Keus lived and worked in Laren for a period, but left for Amsterdam around 1950. He painted in an abstract style and made monumental metal sculptures in the constructivist style of the 1960s. Perhaps he was inspired in this by his friend Hans Ittmann with whom he had contact. Ittmann made sculptures in geometric shapes.
