biography of Jean Charles 'Louis' Landré

Louis Landré is best known as a skilled draftsman and watercolorist of topographical cityscapes. Most of these depicting Amsterdam, the city where he lived and worked from 1896. In addition, he was a regular visitor at the beginning of the 20th century in Hotel Spaander in Volendam where he painted the local fishing population in cheerful colors. Louis Landré was the author of two youth books he provided with drawings and he also illustrated editions of others.
