The Belgian painter Marcel Cockx studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Leuven. Flemish Expressionism can be recognized in his works by the shape and colour. He often painted the “ordinary” life of people in beautiful and harmonious colour combinations. Rural life in the Flemish countryside is also a theme that he paints several times. His first major exhibition took place in 1969 in the Gothic hall of the town hall in Leuven. He quickly became famous and also exhibited in Germany. Marcel Cockx died in 2007.
