Nel van Lith 'is a real chopper, who preferred to look for the hardest and noblest rocks to work from the outside in (...) towards extremely powerful, shiny, semi-abstract (...) and sublimated shapes: beautiful looking developed the material, living from the inside out with a sensual aura and an intactness that fully belongs to the authentic fierceness and unconditionality, with which she also manifests herself as a personality (...)'. In 1986, Hans Redeker typified the sculptor and her oeuvre with these words. She was born in 1932 in Blaricum and studied at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam, among others with Piet Esser. Nel van Lith is one of the most important Dutch post-war sculptors. Museums: including Rijksmuseum and Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and Museum Beelden aan Zee in Scheveningen
