biography of Oscar Waldmann

The Swiss sculptor Oscar Waldmann was a student of the sculptor, painter and craftsman August von Kreling in Nürnberg and of the medalist and sculptor Hugues Bovy in Geneva. Later Waldmann worked in Paris, where he taught, and where from 1885 he exhibited annually at the Salon of the Société des Artistes Français. Since 1898 he also showed his work in London, where he received rave reviews. He was awarded a silver medal at the Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1900. Waldmann made many animal sculptures, but also monumental sculptures with lofty titles such as 'Sieg der Kunst über die Kraft'. Museums: Musée d'Art et d'Histoire, Geneva
