biography of Simon Glücklich

Simon Glücklich studied at the academy in Vienna. Then, like many young artists, he made a study trip to Italy. From 1890 Glücklich lived and worked in Munich. Initially he mainly painted genre scenes, later also landscapes, nude figures and portraits. His idyllic spring performances of dancing children in a park or garden are well known. Emperor Franz Joseph bought the painting 'Kinderquartett' from Glücklich. The artist regularly showed his work from 1891 at the annual exhibitions in the Glaspalast in Munich, at the Berliner Kunstausstellung from 1893, at the Berliner Sezession in 1899 and at exhibitions in Düsseldorf in 1902, 1904 and 1913.
