The Belgian artist Simon Goossens received his training at the Nationaal Hooger Instituut voor Schone Kunsten in Antwerp. He then continued his studies with the painter and sculptor Antoine Bourdelle in Paris. Like his French teacher, Goossens used both the brush and the chisel. As a sculptor he not only made small sculptures, but also made public statues and monuments.
