The oeuvre of T. F. C. Meeles mainly consists of landscapes, village views and still lifes in impressionist style. The artist lived and worked intermittently in Deventer, the city where he was born in 1877 and where he studied drawing. He then went to Amsterdam for an evening course at the Rijksacademie in Amsterdam (1896-1901). The painter is popular for his cityscapes of Deventer.
