Theo ter Weeme was an Amsterdam painter. He was educated at the Teekenschool voor Kunstambachten in Amsterdam and then at the Rijksakademie, at a time when the impressionism of the Hague School there in the work of G.H. Breitner, among others, was changing into a new form. Under the influence of his teacher August Allebé, Ter Weeme painted and drew strongly narrative interiors with figures, portraits, landscapes and still lifes.
