Théodore Legrand, born in Normandy in 1853, is known principally as a painter of portraits, landscapes and flower still lifes. He spent most of his life in Paris, where he took lessons with the genre painter Isodore Pils, and later worked by himself. Between 1876 and 1890 his work was regularly shown at the Paris Salon.
