biography of Vladimir Sychra

The Czech Vladimír Sychra, born in Prague, comes from an artistic family: his father was a painter and taught drawing. Vladimír would follow in his footsteps. After training at the Prague School of Applied Arts and the Prague Academy, he taught at various schools during World War II. As a member of the Mánes Union of Fine Arts, a Czech artists' association, he regularly exhibited his work. Sychra focused on landscapes and portraits in his visual art and produced many drawings in addition to paintings. He often made marginal groups the theme of his work. Later, he drew and painted a lot of women.
