Willem Horselenberg was born in 1881 and lived and worked in Rotterdam for most of his life. The city with its lively inner harbours and busy river Maas was a constant source of inspiration for the painter. In addition to city and harbour views, he also painted landscapes, tranquil river views with ships and still lifes in his typical raft-impressionist style.
