biography of Jan 'Willem' Hendrik Witjens

The painter Willem Witjens from The Hague was initially trained as a glazier and only opted for painting at a later age. He mainly made cityscapes, still lifes, nudes and landscapes, of which the snowscapes and landscapes in the Bommelerwaard in particular have become very famous. During frequent trips abroad, including to Canada and the United States and through Europe, many paintings were also created there.
