biography of William Hughes

William Hughes was born in Lanarkshire in Scotland. He received his painting lessons in London from George Lance and W.H. hunt. He then specialized in painting scented scenes and still lifes with fruit and flowers. His work has been regularly exhibited at the major exhibitions of the Royal Academy in London. He made famous five monumental paintings for the entrance hall of Lord Caltkorpe's London home on Grosvenor Square.
