Ad Kikkert was an impressionist painter. He was educated at the Art Academy in Rotterdam and was also trained by H.F. Boot in Haarlem. Kikkert painted landscapes, still lifes, cityscapes, river landscapes, harbor views and interiors. He lived and worked in Rotterdam for much of his life, but also made several trips to Turkey and France.
