Caspar Reth was a German painter of portraits and animals. He is an exponent of the animal genre that became very popular in the second half of the 19th century. In the Netherlands this genre was practiced by Henriëtte Ronner-Knip and Bernard te Gempt, among others. Von Reth studied in Berlin under Albert Wolff and in Düsseldorf under A. Baur.
